| COMMISSIONED SECURITY (LEVEL III) TRAINING COURSE |
We are certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Private Security Bureau, to be instructors for the commissioned (armed)
Level III Security Officer course. This is a 30-hour course that is required by the state in order to work as an armed security officer
or armed courier. We also can requalify existing Commissioned Officers and provide required continuing education.
To take this course you will need to pay the tuition of $175. You will also need to qualify on a duty weapon, which would be either
a semiautomatic pistol or a revolver. In addition you will also need to qualify on a 12-gauge shotgun. Per the training requirements
you will need to shoot from a holster.
The course of fire is 50 rounds for the handgun and 9 rounds of 00 buck for the shotgun. You will need to provide this ammunition.
If you need to borrow a handgun or shotgun for the course we can provide that to you.
You must provide your own factory ammunition. For safety purposes we do not allow reloaded or handloaded ammunition, for
both your safety and the safety of others around you at the range. You must also provide your own eye and ear protection.
You are required to bring one additional pistol magazine (total of two magazines) and a holster.
This license is required for those persons who are working as armed security officers or armed guards/couriers in the
State of Texas. Also if you want to become a Personal Protection Officer (Level IV) you need to have a Level III
Commission as well. Failure to have this permit and offering or providing security services in the State of Texas is a
Class A Misdemeanor.
This class is approximately 30 hours long and is completed over the course of three days. We prefer to run the course over
a Fri/Sun (3 consecutive days) but we also can offer the course over 2 or 3 weekends.
